Cycling Shirts
Why not wear a regular sports shirt while cycling?
A regular sports shirt is not designed for cycling, as cycling involves leaning forward while riding. Cycling shirts are specially developed to allow for carefree cycling. These shirts have a number of features that other standard sports shirts do not have. A cycling shirt is longer and fits tighter against the body, so it does not flap in the wind.
Choose the right cycling shirt
Rogelli, Castelli, and Craft offer a wide range of cycling shirts. Your body quickly warms up during cycling, and to maintain the right temperature, your body starts to sweat. The cycling shirt should regulate this to keep your body dry and comfortable. To sit comfortably and enjoy cycling, it is important to choose the right cycling shirt. We are happy to explain the different models to you.
Cycling shirt with short sleeves
If the temperature is between 10 and 16°C, opt for a cycling shirt with short sleeves and arm warmers. The arm warmers can easily be removed when it gets too warm. When the temperature is above 16°C, it is warm enough to cycle in a short-sleeved cycling shirt. If it is 25°C or warmer, you can cycle in a singlet (sleeveless shirt). Of course, personal preference also plays a big role in this!
Cycling shirt with long sleeves
If it is colder than 10°C, we recommend a cycling shirt with long sleeves. Due to the low temperature, it is nice to have your entire upper body protected from wind, rain, and cold. Depending on the weather, you can wear multiple layers. For extremely cold temperatures, you can wear a base layer and a wind jacket.
Cycling shirts with zippers
There are also shirts with a long zipper for easy on and off. Other shirts have a short zipper, and some shirts have no zipper. The zipper is not only convenient for putting on and taking off, but it can also be used for ventilation while cycling.
What should the cycling shirt meet?
Now that you know the different cycling shirts and when to wear which shirt, it is good to look at the material. The best cycling shirt is made of a synthetic fabric such as polyester. Polyester is a breathable fabric that ensures sweat is quickly removed. This keeps it comfortable on the bike and prevents you from getting too hot or feeling sticky! Also, you don't want to be distracted while cycling because your clothing doesn't fit well. Therefore, it is important that the cycling shirt stays in place. Therefore, choose a cycling shirt with silicone edges at the arms and waist. This prevents the cycling shirt from riding up during exercise. When cycling, you not only need a shirt, at Plutosport.nl you will find everything for your cycling adventure from cycling accessories to the perfect cycling shorts! The well-known cycling brands apply special technologies to the cycling shirt, so you can really take your performance to the next level. Rogelli uses the Airlite fabric in certain cycling shirts, which is breathable, quick-drying, and lightweight. And the Dynacool inserts provide extra ventilation and cooling. Castelli uses Nano Flex technology to make the back water-repellent, and the Gore-Tex Infinium Windstopper keeps the wind out.
