Bottles
The importance of hydration
The human body consists largely of water. Fluid loss affects your performance and your health. Start drinking water before getting on the bike. Your body needs time to absorb the water. In addition, the risk of cramps is very high when you are dehydrated. During cycling, it is best to drink small amounts of water. After your bike ride, replenish your fluids. With a water bottle, you ensure that you have something to drink while cycling.
Water versus sports drink
For greater efforts, water alone is not sufficient. Water does not contain energy. The body needs energy to keep moving. If you are cycling for about 1 hour, water is sufficient. If you are cycling longer, we recommend also replenishing your energy. This can be done through an isotonic sports drink. Isotonic sports drinks promote fluid absorption, provide energy, and replenish mineral losses, such as sodium.
Look for isotonic drinks and other energy-boosting products in the category sports nutrition.
Water bottle
When you go cycling, it is handy to take a water bottle with you. There are many types of water bottles, which mainly differ in the drinking system. There are bottles with an AutoSeal drinking spout. This closes automatically when you stop drinking. There are also bottles with an AutoSpout drinking spout, which pops up when you press the button.
In addition, the bottles differ in capacity and material. When purchasing a bottle, check if it is dishwasher safe, if desired.
Tips
If you need more water, you can choose to take a backpack with a hydration system. Look for these special cycling backpacks in the category bike bags.
Take small sips of water. This prevents sloshing in your stomach.
