Football training pants for women
When to Wear Training Pants
Training pants are usually worn before and after football. If it’s too cold for shorts, you can also wear training pants during a football training session. It’s important to keep your muscles warm, as warm muscles are less prone to injury. Therefore, it’s wise to keep your training pants on during the warm-up. After training or a match, put your training pants back on to prevent your muscles from cooling down too quickly. Gradual cooling of the muscles helps reduce soreness.
Preventing Injuries
Muscles need to be warm to minimize the risk of muscle tears. Wearing training pants helps your muscles warm up faster and stay at the right temperature. Additionally, a proper warm-up is essential to make your muscles warm and flexible. After football, do a cooling-down session and put your training pants back on to ensure your muscles cool down gradually.
If it’s 10 degrees Celsius or colder, wear training pants even during football training. Without long pants, blood flow decreases due to the cold, meaning your muscles receive fewer nutrients and waste products are not effectively removed. This can lead to quicker muscle fatigue and a longer recovery time.
Material
The material of training pants should be able to wick away sweat. Synthetic fabrics are ideal for this as they help keep your body dry and comfortable. A combination of synthetic fabric and cotton is also an option, but we do not recommend training pants made entirely of cotton. Cotton absorbs moisture without wicking it away, making the pants wet and heavy from sweat, which can lead to feeling cold. Cold is not good for your muscles.
There are two main types of training pants: polyester training pants and woven training pants. Both are made from polyester, but the woven ones are crafted using a different technique. Woven means that the material is tightly woven, resulting in a smooth, flexible fabric.
Some brands add moisture-wicking properties using proprietary technologies. Nike uses Nike Dri-Fit technology, while Adidas offers its own Adidas ClimaLite technology.
You should be able to move freely in your training pants. Sizes vary by brand, so check the size guide provided to choose the right fit.
Most training pants have an elastic waistband, sometimes with a drawstring, ensuring a snug fit. Many also feature short zippers at the bottom of the pant legs, making it easy to put them on or take them off over your shoes.
Tips
Follow the washing instructions provided on the label inside the pants. Do not use fabric softener, as it can damage the technical fibers and diminish the pants’ essential properties. Avoid using a dryer; instead, hang the pants to dry.
Pair your training pants with a training jacket to step onto the field fully prepared.
