Junior field footballs
Size and Weight
Almost all field footballs are size 5, except for the football for the youngest players, which is size 4. Especially for children, it is very important to have the right ball with a weight that matches their age group. Children up to 10 years old should play with a size 4 ball weighing around 290 grams. Children from 10 to 15 years old play with a size 5 ball weighing between 320 and 370 grams. The oldest category, children from 15 to 18 years old, also play with a size 5 ball, with a weight ranging from 370 to 450 grams.
Polyurethane or PVC?
The outer shell of most field footballs is made of PVC or polyurethane. The main difference between these two materials is that polyurethane is very abrasion-resistant and durable, while a PVC ball will wear out a little faster. With a polyurethane football, you can continue playing in all weather conditions, even if there is snow or heavy rain! The quality of the PVC ball can decrease in very cold temperatures, which is why a PVC ball is often only used for training. Typically, a polyurethane ball is used for official competitive matches.
Tip
The product description of the ball will indicate its size and weight, so you can always choose a suitable ball!
