Size and Weight

For youth players, selecting the correct size and weight of the soccer ball is crucial. For adults, however, there’s not much room for error. The standard size for men’s soccer is size 5, and the ball should weigh approximately 450 grams.

Material

Soccer balls are almost always made from polyurethane (PU) or PVC. Polyurethane is a durable and wear-resistant material, often used for match balls. Unlike PVC balls, polyurethane balls remain playable even in bad weather. All outdoor soccer balls have a good bounce, which helps to maintain the pace of the game.

Certification

Some soccer balls meet specific criteria and have received official certifications. Certified balls are marked with a stamp on the ball. The different certifications include FIFA Quality PRO, FIFA Quality, or International Match Standard (IMS).

A certification indicates the ball's quality level, and certified balls are guaranteed to be of high quality. To earn a certification, a soccer ball undergoes testing in various aspects, including weight, circumference, and shape retention under different temperatures.
