Kids' fitness shoes
Different Workouts
In the past, fitness mainly consisted of cardio and strength training, but nowadays, there are many more types of workouts available at the gym. Group classes are becoming increasingly popular and are also available specifically for children. Depending on the workout you do, different fitness shoes are suitable. For a dance class, for example, you’ll need more cushioning in your shoes than for strength training.
Strength Training
If you are a strength athlete and only do exercises on machines, you don’t necessarily need special fitness shoes. The strain on your feet and joints is minimal. However, if you work with heavy equipment, such as dumbbells and barbells, you’ll need fitness shoes with good cushioning and grip. There is more weight placed on your feet, ankles, and knees. Additionally, you can’t afford to slip, so proper grip is essential.
Music-Based Classes
Nowadays, there are many group classes on music in the gym. Street dance and Zumba are examples of such classes. These classes involve very different movements compared to cardio or strength training. Lateral and twisting movements are common. Your shoes need to support these movements. Therefore, opt for fitness shoes with diagonal grooves in the soles. A sole with a profile of long straight lines is not suitable, as it may cause your foot to stay fixed, increasing the risk of injury.
Cardio
If you spend a lot of time on the treadmill, wear specialized running shoes. These shoes provide excellent cushioning. For other forms of cardio, there’s no need for specialized shoes. In this case, light-weight and well-ventilated fitness shoes are recommended.
Jump Training
A workout that involves a lot of jumping is plyometrics. Plyo is excellent for fat burning but keep in mind that not everyone can perform this workout. Your body takes on a lot of stress during this jump training. Joints, muscles, and tendons experience about five times your body weight. This must be manageable. If you’re doing this workout, fitness shoes with ample cushioning and grip are essential.
Tips
Your feet expand when it’s warm. Make sure there is enough room in your shoes. Try on your shoes in the afternoon when your feet are at their largest. You also want to avoid overly loose shoes, as this can lead to slippage and blisters.
