Women's running sports bras
Purpose of a Sports Bra
Your breasts consist of tissue. While muscles absorb the movements of running, your breasts do not have muscles, so these movements are not absorbed. The pressure that is then placed on your skin and the tissue beneath can cause sagging breasts. Sagging breasts cannot be restored. Additionally, strain can occur because of pressure on your neck and back. Prevent this by wearing a good sports bra! Depending on the size of your breasts, you should choose a specific type of sports bra.
The Right Sports Bra
A sports bra provides support, prevents friction, and is comfortable. Make sure to wear the correct size sports bra. A sports bra fits tighter than a regular bra, but it should not be so tight that you feel pressure when breathing.
Sports bras may or may not have cups. For women with large breasts, a sports bra with cups is recommended. For women with small to medium-sized breasts, sports bras without cups are suitable. In general, sports bras do not have underwires. A reinforced chest band replaces the underwire and provides support.
There are also differences in shoulder straps. A sports bra can have wide, narrow, crossed, or straight shoulder straps. Wide straps provide more support than narrower ones. Crossed straps better absorb shoulder pressure. The closure of the sports bra can be at the back or front, or it may not have any closure. Depending on your preference, choose a bra with the closure style you find most comfortable.
Breathable
A sports bra should be made of breathable material that can effectively wick away moisture. Some brands incorporate this feature using special technology. Nike uses its own Dri-Fit technology, while Triumph uses CoolMax technology. All sports bras should also be durable and quick-drying.
Washing Instructions
The washing instructions are listed on the label of the sports bra. Follow these instructions to enjoy your bra for as long as possible. Prevent sweat from soaking into the bra by washing it quickly after exercise. The best way to wash your sports bra is by hand in lukewarm water with mild detergent. Do not let it soak for too long. Do not use fabric softener, and rinse thoroughly to ensure no soap residue remains. If you prefer to machine wash it, use a special laundry bag and set the machine to a gentle cycle. Do not use a tumble dryer; hang the sports bra to dry. Sports bras with underwires should not be machine washed.
Fitting
When trying on a sports bra, there are a few things you can do to check if it fits properly. Move and jump while trying it on to feel how the bra fits during movement. Raise your arms to see if the bra stays in place. If the bra rides up, you need a smaller band size. Always try the bra on the last hook. Over time, the bra may stretch. You can always tighten it further if needed.
Tips
The level of support varies per sports bra. The product description will detail the level of support the bra offers.
