Padded jackets
Winter versus Summer
Like many other models, the padded jacket comes in both a winter and a summer version. Both versions are, of course, lightweight, but there are some differences to note. As you might expect, the winter padded jacket is wonderfully warm! In addition, winter jackets are often water-repellent, wind-resistant, and insulating. The insulating function ensures that body heat is retained, keeping you warm in cold conditions. The summer padded jacket, on the other hand, focuses much less on warmth, as the weather is naturally much warmer than in winter! The summer jacket is therefore much thinner, making it perfect for wearing in spring, autumn, or on cooler summer days.
Down versus Synthetic Materials
Both down and synthetic materials are used as fillings for padded jackets, with the shared goal of keeping you warm! However, these materials have different properties. If animal welfare is important to you, there is really only one choice: a padded jacket made with synthetic materials. However, synthetic materials are heavier than down, so you’ll carry a bit more weight, and the jacket won’t compress as much as a down-filled one. On the other hand, down is less resistant to moisture than synthetic fillings. So, if you frequently find yourself in rainy weather, a padded jacket with synthetic materials is a better choice than one filled with down!
