How Much Water Should You Drink Per Day?

Water plays a crucial role in nutrient absorption in the intestines, the transport of nutrients and waste throughout the body, and regulating body temperature. The majority of the fluid intake comes from drinking. An adult needs about 1.5 to 2 liters of fluid per day. This amount varies based on how much fluid you lose, which differs from person to person and depends on various factors. For instance, if the weather is hot or if you are exercising, you will lose more fluid and therefore need to replenish more.

What Is a Good Water Bottle?

A water bottle is a convenient accessory to have your drink always on hand. Typically, a water bottle has a larger capacity than a glass or cup. There are various types of water bottles, such as water bottles, shaker cups, and thermos bottles. These bottles often come with different drinking mechanisms. For example, some water bottles feature an AutoSeal closure that automatically seals after drinking. Other bottles have a SnapSeal closure that is easy to open and close. You can also consider the bottle's capacity and whether it's dishwasher-safe.

What Are Good Thermos Bottles?

Thermos bottles need some extra attention. They keep hot beverages warm and cold beverages cool. A thermos bottle is handy for traveling, as it is typically made of double-walled material and features a leak-proof closure. Despite this, it's still important to check the bottle for leaks regularly.

To ensure hot drinks stay warm for as long as possible, here are some tips:

  • Pre-warm the thermos bottle with boiling water.
  • Fill the bottle completely but leave a small air gap between the lid and the liquid.
  • Open the bottle as little as possible.

For cold beverages, you can also control how cold your drink stays. Cold drinks remain cooler longer because the temperature difference is less significant than with hot beverages.

Do’s and Don’ts for Thermos Bottles

  • First, fill the thermos with ice-cold tap water to bring the bottle to temperature so it can keep drinks cold.
  • Always drink from a cup, never directly from the thermos bottle.
  • Leave the cap off when storing the bottle.
  • Consult the user manual for cleaning instructions.
  • Carbonated drinks and ice are not suitable for thermos bottles.
  • Never pre-warm the thermos in the oven or microwave.
  • Never put warm or cold baby food or dairy products in the thermos, as this can accelerate bacterial growth.

Tip

Take small sips to avoid discomfort or sloshing in your stomach.
